BAME Labour is born

After consultation with the membership, the organisation representing ethnic minorities in the Labour Party shall be known as BAME Labour.

Aims and Objectives

•    BAME Labour is seeking to influence and participate in policy making process at all levels of the Labour Party and through its work BSS will ensure that issues and concerns of BSS members are raised at the highest levels of the Party.

•    BAME Labour will work to ensure that Black, Asian and Ethnic minority members are represented throughout the Party bodies and are selected for the Welsh Assembly, Scottish, Westminster and European Parliaments and for public office in local and central government.

•    BAME Labour aims to eliminate racism and discrimination in all forms and will support its members in their struggle against racism in the United Kingdom and Worldwide, whilst developing links with other similar organizations to achieve this end.

•    BAME Labour shall work to achieve support for the Labour Party.


BAME Labour is proud of its links with the Labour Party and the Labour movement. As it is only Labour that is committed to improving the life chances of every member of society, particularly those suffering disadvantage or discrimination. Over the last ten years, this Labour government has made enormous progress in building a society with opportunities for all.
