Giving Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic members a voice
BAME Labour recently hosted a summer conference in Coventry. Over 150 members from across the country attended to hear from keynote speakers, participate in workshops, discuss policy and learn more about campaigning.
National Chair of BAME Labour, Kamaljeet Jandu, said ‘It was great to see so many members coming together to discuss the issues affecting all of our communities. We hope this will be one of a series of events that the new BAME Labour Executive will be able to host for members all across the country’.
Workshops were held on BAME representation within the Labour Party, protecting small businesses during the economic recovery, building a consensus around immigration and multiculturalism, developing a BAME women’s network and also a practical workshop on constituency campaigning within BAME communities.
The BAME Labour Executive have pledged to hold further events in the near future.
